Rocky beaches and wondrous tide pools lie at the foot of Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Built in 1873 and located northwest of Newport, this 93 foot tower is Oregon's tallest. It's original first order Fresnel lens is fully automated and still flashes from 162 get above the sea. With continued improvement by the Bureau of Land Management, the lighthouse with its 114 step spiral staircase and rich history, is becoming more accessible to the public |
